Whygo2 San Francisco
Letsgo2 employees have travelled extensively to the destinations we feature. Here are the five main reasons they would consider a visit to San Francisco.
Attractions
With an activity to suit every visitor, it would be difficult to single out San Francisco's most noted attraction. Certainly the steep streets, cable cars, Coit Tower, Alcatraz and the spectacular Golden Gate Bridge suspended above the fog rank high on the list. Some of these attractions are as famous as San Francisco itself and each represent and add to the city in their own way. Fisherman's Wharf is the most visited tourist attraction and contains many attractions including Pier 39, the Aquarium of the Bay and Ghirardelli Square. Bursting with popular tourist attractions, San Francisco is certainly a wonder to behold.
Shopping
With so many shopping options, from shopping centres, districts and malls to unique boutiques and one-of-a-kind shops, a San Francisco holiday is not complete without a shopping spree. With a surplus of streets and neighbourhoods each area of San Francisco has its own distinct flavour and price range. Union Square is the shopping hub of the city, a retail heaven, where the best names in fashion have resided for over one hundred years.
Different Neighbourhoods
As one of the worlds most scenic cities, San Francisco is well known for its different district and neighbourhoods. Home to more than forty neighbourhoods, no two neighbourhoods are alike. Chinatown is a city within a city with exotic shops, food markets, temples and museums. Enjoy samples at a tea bar or order a 'dim sum' lunch. Fishing boats, seafood stalls, barking sea lions .. you know you are in Fisherman's Wharf. North Beach or Little Italy has a great selection of restaurants, jazz clubs, galleries and cafes. With each neighbourhood boasting its own vibe and collective personality makes for an intriguing adventure, making San Francisco one of the world's most scenic cities.
Restaurants
Nestled in San Francisco's neighbourhoods are some of the best restaurants in the USA. At last count there were 3,300 table-service restaurants, meaning you could dine at a different place every night for over nine years. The diverse background and location of the city have major influences on its mouth-watering cuisine. Whatever your tastebuds desire, there is a culinary answer waiting for you on every corner. A little bit of research and planning goes a long way in finding that ideal restaurant that you will be talking about forever.
Nightlife
Like any big city, San Francisco has its share of typical evening flare: theatre and performing arts, fine dining, bars and nightclubs. Particular characteristics are the many rooftop bars which offer sweeping views across the city and beyond. Music is an important part of San Francisco's nightlife. With a number of live music venues, frequent Karaoke nights, concerts in the park and nightclubs the city has plenty to entertain.
